What are the SDLC methodologies you are aware of? In which method you are mastered?
Software Development Life Cycle refers to a framework to develop an information system and includesprinciples of management, planning, organizing, problem-solving, coordination, control, a division of labor,
scheduling, and so forth. SDLC provides a structured method for the development and without SDLC method,
development projects are at severe risk for missing deadlines, out of control budget, and poor performance.
Some of the SDLC methodologies are-
1 Waterfall- it is widely used and follows a structured and sequential development process.
2 Agile – follows iterative development and supports a dynamically changing environment.
3 RUP- iterative and incremental software improvement process.
4 XP – a mix of RUP and Agile, simple and efficient.
5 RAD- developing an application system in a short span of time, suitable for the focused scope and technical
architecture is defined and clear.
6 Prototype model- gives users an idea of what the final system will look like.
From past experiences, I have extensively worked on the RUP methodology. In my last project at Option One, we
used the RUP methodology. The project involved modules for Accepting Monthly Payments, Monitoring
Delinquencies, Managing Escrow Accounts, Managing Foreclosures, Investor Accounting, Lien Releases and
Customer Notifications.
